The interior of a busy independent motor workshop with cars raised on ramps

Independent workshop directory Β· walked, not submitted Β· since 2011

The workshop,
not the website.

Six hundred and twelve independent garages, testing stations, body shops, auto-electricians and restorers, listed by the equipment actually bolted to the floor and the work they will honestly take on. Somebody from here has stood in every one of them.

  • 612 workshops walked
  • No banners, no paid order
  • Re-walked every 30 months

How entries are written

Nobody is listed from a form

01

Someone drives there and stands in it

We look at the ramps, the tester, the booth and the bench, and we write the entry from that. It caps us at about nine new entries a month, which is why there are 612 workshops here and not six thousand.

02

We take entries down while we ring round

Three unresolved complaints in a rolling year and the listing comes off until we have spoken to everybody. Two of last year's removals were garages we personally liked, and neither was paying us a penny to be there in the first place.

03

No parts factors, no warranty underwriters

The obvious money here is banner space sold to suppliers, and the price of it is quietly not recording which workshops refuse warranty work because of what the underwriters pay. We would rather record it.

04

Sometimes the franchise is the right answer

Security codes, a live recall, a subframe only the manufacturer will supply. About one enquiry in twelve we answer by telling somebody to use a main dealer and not a single garage on this list.

A technician working under a car on a two-post ramp

β€œThe lease company wanted the camera behind the screen recalibrated after a stone chip and quoted eleven working days. I filtered for calibration within an hour of the yard, rang the second entry down, and the van was back out the following afternoon at about a third of the money.”

About this page

Everything above is a demonstration

The business, the listings and the reviews are invented β€” this page exists to show what someone could put on motorindustry.co.uk. The domain itself is genuinely for sale.

Domain for sale

motorindustry.co.uk is available

You are looking at a demonstration, not a real business. We built it to show what this domain could carry β€” the company, the stock and the reviews are invented.

  1. 1

    Make an enquiry

Tell us who you are and what you would use it for. It costs nothing and puts you under no obligation.

  2. 2

    Agree a price

We reply with a price or consider your offer. Most conversations are settled within a couple of working days.

  3. 3

    Pay into escrow

Funds go to a licensed third-party escrow agent, never straight to us. They hold the money until the transfer is confirmed.

  4. 4

    Take ownership

We push the authorisation code to your registrar. You control the domain, usually within a week; escrow then releases the funds.

The demonstration site is not part of the sale by default β€” but if you want it, say so in your enquiry and we will include the source.
